India’s first Autonomous Navigation Testbed (Aerial & terrestrials) facility, then was inaugurated by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Science and Technology & Earth Sciences at IIT Hyderabad on 4th July 2022 Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt of India under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber- Physical Systems (NMICPS), has sanctioned the prestigious Technology Innovation Hub to IIT Hyderabad. We are a wholly funded Technology Innovation Hub in IIT– Hyderabad by Government of India through DST under NM-ICPS which is a Pan India Mission and covers the entire gamut of India that includes Central Ministries, State Governments, Industry and Academia.

About IRMA ISEED FOUNDATION

Incubator for Social Enterprises and Entrepreneurs for Development (ISEED) at IRMA, started in August 2016, supports and nurtures early-stage rural, social and collective enterprises. ISEED encourages individuals and institutions to experiment with empathy helping them innovate new products, services and institutions that impact livelihoods. ISEED provides bespoke, end-to-end intensive business support to early-stage social enterprises through its unique incubation methodology that starts right from scouting for mission-aligned enterprises, incubating them and finally exiting.

Problems/challenges emerged from Agriculture sector and were as follow:

Utilizing AI technique for pest detection and targeted spraying is complicated by varying plant heights and dense crop canopies.
Utilizing AI technology to identify weeds and remove them mechanically or chemically with precision.
Integrate autonomous irrigation systems that adjust water delivery based on real-time data, ensuring optimal water use.
Autonomous systems can adjust dynamic water flow in real time based on changing field conditions (e.g., unexpected rain or shifts in soil moisture).
Drone based object detection for rodents' identification and smart drone navigation for rodenticide spraying.
Drone based object detection for harvest identification (fruits identification in horticulture.
Design a centralized system to manage multiple drones for small farm owners, enabling shared usage, route optimization, and task allocation in fragmented agricultural plots.
Engineer a drone-based system equipped with multispectral imaging and AI to identify and precisely eliminate weeds without affecting crops, reducing reliance on chemical herbicides.
Develop solar-powered portable charging stations for drones, enabling uninterrupted operation in rural areas with unreliable power supplies.
Create a drone system that monitors crop ripeness and automates harvest scheduling, ensuring optimal timing for yield quality and quantity.
Design an autonomous ground vehicle capable of precision seeding using GPS and real-time soil condition analysis to optimize seed placement.
Develop a robust solution to ensure uninterrupted drone operations for agricultural applications like bio-fertilizer spraying, addressing challenges like electromagnetic interference and logistical issues related to transporting specialized equipment for nano urea application.
Design automation technologies to improve agricultural produce management, such as efficient warehouse systems, quality assessments, and overcoming environmental constraints like wind impacts on drone applications during crop flowering.

Problems/challenges emerged from Climate change and were as follow:

Develop autonomous systems for collecting, segregating, and composting agricultural and domestic waste to reduce methane emissions and improve rural hygiene.
Use autonomous aerial drones to monitor flood-prone areas and map water movement to improve drainage systems.\
Drone mounted sensors based air quality index sensing in a particular locality and alert.
Build autonomous drone systems with advanced imaging capabilities to collect data on deforestation, soil erosion, and water availability for climate impact analysis.
Develop a system combining IoT and AI to monitor and analyze carbon emissions from rural agricultural activities, helping farmers adopt more sustainable practices.
Implement autonomous system equipped with sensors to predict and mitigate rural flood risks by monitoring riverbanks and water flow.
Engineer an autonomous irrigation management platform using drones and ground robots to monitor and conserve water resources during drought conditions.
Explore and implement autonomous technologies for ecological interventions, such as desilting and cleaning rural water bodies, and leverage existing tools to measure carbon sequestration in agroforestry projects.
Innovate energy solutions, including the storage and integration of hydrogen in autonomous navigation systems, and create comprehensive data platforms for real-time farm health monitoring.

Problems/challenges emerged from Dairy sector and were as follow:

Implement machine learning models that analyze livestock behavioral and physiological data to predict diseases like mastitis or lameness before they visibly manifest.
Create a portable, IoT-enabled milk analyzer to assess parameters such as fat content, pH, and contamination at the farm level, ensuring quality before transportation.
Design a robotic system that dispenses the exact quantity of feed for each animal based on pre-programmed dietary requirements and real-time animal data.
Create an autonomous system to collect, process, and convert dairy farm manure into biogas, promoting renewable energy use and waste reduction.
Implement technological advancements in the dairy supply chain, focusing on automated milking systems, timely transportation to chilling centers, and decentralized pasteurization solutions at the village level.
Create autonomous cleaning systems for cattle sheds and marketplaces (e.g., sabzi mandis), with efficient waste transportation to biogas plants, fostering environmentally friendly ecosystems.
