In July 2023, Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and Habitat for Humanity International's Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) launched the Construction Innovation Hub (CIH) at the Kerala Technology Innovation Zone in Kochi. CIH is a platform dedicated to accelerating innovation across the construction value chain — with a focus on sustainable, inclusive, and affordable housing solutions.

Now, building on that momentum, CIH presents the first edition of its Entrepreneur-in Residence (EIR) Program, with IIT Palakkad Technology IHub Foundation (IPTIF) as the implementation partner. This initiative is designed to support early-stage innovators working on bold ideas that can transform the future of housing and construction.

Program Benefits

The EIR program is tailored for individuals at the idea, proof of concept (PoC), or MVP stage. It offers hands-on support to help you evolve your concept into a viable, scalable startup. Key benefits include:

Who Should Apply?

We are looking for driven, mission-aligned individuals who are:

• Early-stage innovators (Idea/PoC/MVP)
• Degree in Science/Engineering
• 18+ years, full-time commitment
• Tech-driven ideas for affordable & sustainable housing

Focus Areas

The program is keen on supporting innovations that address critical challenges in construction and housing across the following areas:

● Innovation in Materials: New or improved construction materials.

● Alternate Building Materials: Eco-friendly substitutes for conventional options.

● Local Indigenous Practices: Traditional methods adapted for sustainable housing.
